Dr. Juan R.S. Yelanguezian K.P.
was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina . Descendant of traditional Families of Cilicia, Thrace and Peloponnese.
Ph.D. in Musical Composition and Musicology with a “Summa cum laude” degree, 2004; awarded a grant by the Secretariat of the Argentine Nation and the Ministry of Sciences and Education of Armenia. Master in Arts; specialized in Composition. Degree of Excellence, 2001, awarded a grant by the Government of Armenia and AGBU of the United States. Postgraduate in Ancient Musicology and Ethnics, 1984; scholar: Titles obtained in the State Conservatory Komitás of Yereván, Armenia. Stages in Armenian Arts in the Matenadaran, 2001 y 2004; Institute of Theater and Fine Arts, 1984; Philology, 1984. Studied Composition at the Faculty of Musical Arts and Sciences of the Catholic University of Argentina, obtaining distinction in History of Plastic Arts and History of Literature, 1978-1982. Postgraduate degree in Philology: Thesis: Armenian Mythology. Courses History of Armenia, History of Armenian Art, Literature and others. 1974-1975. Scholar of the Murekian Foundation of Argentina. Read and passed; History of the Civilization and History of Institutions of Argentina in the Law Faculty of the University of Buenos Aires. 1971-1972. Studied journalism en ICES, Buenos Aires, 1972-1973. Graduate of the Armenian educational institute San Gregorio “el Iluminador” (Saint Gregory “the Illuminator”); 1969. His research work was published by the Academy of Sciences of Buenos Aires, Athens, Venice and Armenia as well as other specialized media on Armenology, Hellenology and Musicology.

Received the following prizes: His book “Zim Kilikiá” was declared “De interés cultural” (“Of cultural interest”) by the Legislature of the City of Buenos Aires in 2011. Has been awarded prizes for Composition in the cycle “Conferencias” (“Conferences”) from the State Conservatory of Yerevan and the biennial prize from the “Asociación Amigos de la Música” (Friends of Music Association) with the sponshorship of the Greek Embassy and the University of Palermo in 1993. Prizes for Poetry by the Pioneer Palace of Yerevan and the first prize of the Festival of Yerevan in 1975. Cycles contained in hiss book “Arian, Antologia Poética” (“Arian, Poetic Cycle”). His poem “Huérfanos de Armenia” (Orphans of Armenia) was in 1985 declared “of cultural interest” by the Legislature of the City of Buenos Aires in an event dedicated to the Armenian Genocide in said Legislature in 2005. He has also received, a number of prizes for painting (Embassy of Lebanon and others). Life work prize of the UCAM, 1996. Received the distinction of “Hombre de la Cultura del Año”l, (“Year’s Man of Culture”) 1996, the eighth anniversary if the UCA of Marash, Panamericano Hotel, 2004.
He has dictated courses, seminaries and conferences and participated in congresses as an Armenologist, Hellenologist and Musicologist since 1970. National Museum of Oriental Art and its Friend’s Association, National Museum of Fine Arts and its Association of Friends (supporters), Cultural Secretary of the Nation, Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of Buenos Aires, Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the UCA (Argentine Catholic University), Law Faculty of the University of Buenos Aires, Greek Institute, Marie Manoogian and Arzruni, Embassies of Armenia, Greece, Lebanon, United States and Ecuador In Buenos Aires.
He has distinguished himself as an Armenologist and Hellenologist. Has presided Comision of culture of UCA of Marash, Youth Committee from the AGBU of Buenos Aires, coordinator of “Reencuentros con Arte” (“Reunions with Art”) at the Otium Library, ——-.
Is a member of the Union of Writers and of the Composers and Musicologists Union of Armenia. Of institutions of Greece and of Switzerland, as well as having presided over Culture Committees. His biography is included in the specialized books of the country, foreign books and in the National Encyclopaedia of Armenia.
