Modern period

Armenian art of so-called modern times is the fruit of a rich secular heritage of this people. Compared to ancient and medieval art, especially that of the Armenian miniature, the modern art of Armenian painters is still relatively unknown in the West. He achieves a fusion of the art of miniatures with European art, as illustrated in particular by the painters of the Hovnatanian dynasty (from the end of the 17th to the 19th century).
