Webinaire : l'exécution du responsable du génocide des Arméniens

À l'occasion du 102e anniversaire de l'exécution de Talaat Pacha à Berlin,
cet événement porte sur la publication de la première traduction anglaise de
Mémoires de Soghomon Tehlirian, Remembrances: The Assassination of
Talaat Pacha (Institut Gomidas, 2022), initialement publié en arménien
au Caire en 1953 sous le nom de Soghomon Tehlirean : Verhishumner.
L'assassinat et le procès de Tehlirian ont eu de lourdes conséquences,
y compris un impact direct sur Raphael Lemkin, qui a inventé le mot
« génocide » et a œuvré pour l'adoption de la Convention des Nations Unies sur la
Prévention et répression du crime de génocide en 1948.
Le Dr Carla Garapedian, qui a rédigé la préface de cette nouvelle édition,
une introduction générale et Bedo Demirdjian, traducteur du
mémoire, parlera des défis de travailler avec ce manuscrit.
Bedo Demirdjian est né à Beyrouth, au Liban. Il est diplômé du Melkonian Educational Institute de
Nicosie, Chypre, et a étudié l'économie et l'intégration de l'Union européenne à l'Université de
Peireaus en Grèce. Il a travaillé comme journaliste, comme directeur de la communication et des relations publiques
à la Fédération euro-arménienne Justice et Démocratie, et en tant que coordinateur du bureau de la
Représentant permanent de la République d'Artsakh au Moyen-Orient. En 2020, Bedo s'installe en Arménie, en
la province de Lori.

Remembrances: The Assassination of Talaat Pasha

Marking the 102nd anniversary of the shooting of Talaat Pasha in Berlin,
this event focuses on the publication of the first English translation of
Soghomon Tehlirian’s memoir, Remembrances: The Assassination of
Talaat Pasha (Gomidas Institute, 2022), originally published in Armenian
in Cairo in 1953 as Soghomon Tehlirean: Verhishumner.
The assassination and Tehlirian's trial had far-reaching consequences,
including a direct impact on Raphael Lemkin, who coined the word
“genocide” and worked for the adoption of the UN Convention on the
Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in 1948.
Dr. Carla Garapedian, who wrote the preface to this new edition, will
provide a general introduction and Bedo Demirdjian, translator of the
memoir, will talk about the challenges of working with this manuscript.
Bedo Demirdjian was born in Beirut, Lebanon. He is a graduate of Melkonian Educational Institute in
Nicosia, Cyprus, and studied Economics and European Union Integration at the University of
Peireaus in Greece. He has worked as a journalist, as Communications and Public Relations Director
at the European Armenian Federation Justice and Democracy, and as the office coordinator of the
Artsakh Republic permanent representative to the Middle East. In 2020 Bedo settled in Armenia, in
the province of Lori.
