Hayni (Hani) – Folk Medicine

Houshamadyan announces a new series of articles dedicated to the small town of Hayni (Hani), located north of the city of Diyarbekir, in the area of Lidje (Lice).

The main primary source available to us on Hayni is an extant memory book meticulously assembled by Penyamin Jamgochian, a native of the town. We have not been able to find other sources of information on the life of Armenians in the area’s other cities and villages. For this reason, we decided to dedicate an entire section of our website solely to this small town and the history of its Armenian population.

Our first article on Hayni focuses on folk medicine. It is written by Adom Boudjikanian, a regular contributor to Houshamadyan.

We already have articles ready to be published on the demographics of the Lidje area, as well as the common occupations of its residents.

Here is the link to the page:

The article was translated into English and Turkish respectively by Simon Beugekian and Sevan Değirmenciyan.
