Book Presentation Krikor Satamian’s “My Theatrical Journey – A Memoir”

On November 13, former actors and current members of the Krikor Satamian Theater Group and its followers filled the Boyadjian Hall of the AGBU Vatche & Tamar Manoukian Performing Arts Center to witness a book presentation from the longtime theatre director, actor, friend, father figure, and AGBU Artistic Director, Mr. Krikor Satamian, who presented his latest project, "My Theatrical Journey: A Memoir."

Hye Geen 2022 International Conference – “Women Journalists at the Forefront of Empowerment”

On November 5, AGBU Hye Geen Young Circle held an international conference titled “Women Journalists at the Forefront of Empowerment” in collaboration with the Armenian Studies Program of California State University, Northridge (CSUN).

The event featured six prominent Armenian women journalists: local broadcaster Ellina Abovian of KTLA 5 News, French Armenian journalist Astrig Agopian, The Armenian Weekly staff writer Lillian Avedian, freelance journalist and CSUN Alumna Liz Ohanesian, Los Angeles Times reporter Alene Tchekmedyian and Artsakh native and author Lika Zakaryan.

Amaras Kids Club Hosts “Thanksgiving Adventures” One Day Camp

Camp Amaras ‘Thanksgiving Adventures Camp’ hosted by Amaras Kids Club. The camp kids engaged in educational and creative activities ranging from making their own Thanksgiving themed cupcakes, having Ghapama, enjoying a movie, dancing, singing, and even a special visitor for yoga. Many of our Summer campers reunited with their friends and embraced newcomers who fell in love with a fun-filled program.

Innovation Studios Welcomes Special Guest Karen Khachikian

We were thrilled to welcome the inventor of Robin the Robot at AGBU Innovation Studios to discuss our upcoming collaboration.  

Students met inventor and visionary, Karen Khachikian who created the world’s first emotionally intelligent robot aimed to help children cope with illness and the emotional hardships associated with enduring treatment. Robin was named one of the best inventions of 2021 by TIME magazine. 

Innovation Studios gifted him a lasercut and 3D printed model of Robin! Stay tuned for an exciting announcement.

Generation Next Mentorship Program – Join the Next Cohort of Mentees and Mentors

AGBU GenNext welcomed our next cohort of mentors! Excited to begin a new journey with new mentors and in person mentorship. Our program has professional development opportunities, exclusive events, one-on-one mentorship, Recreational after school programming, skill development sessions, and topic-specific seminars.  

Educators can refer a student and parents can register their child. Everyone needs a mentor. It’s a chance to level up both personally and professionally. Visit our website to find out more about one of the longest standing programs at AGBU.  

Enrollment is now open for Mentees (middle and high school students) and Mentors (anyone over the age of 21). Register here.

 
AGBU MDS Alumni Get Together, “The Return – Veratarts, Chapter 2”

A glimpse into the fun and memories from last weekend’s event welcoming back our alumni. Some had not been back since they graduated 20 years ago! There was no shortage of hugs, laughs, food and joy as they walked through the halls of their high school once again.

LA SFV Scouts Walkathon for Armenia Fund

On Sunday, November 6, the AGBU AYA San Fernando Valley Scouts set out for their annual walkathon from the AGBU Manoogian-Demirdjian School to the St. Peter's Armenian Apostolic Church. In addition, the Scouts participated in a mass service and collected donations to benefit their Armenian brothers and sisters with the Armenia Fund. This event proceeds before the annual Thanksgiving Telethon that the Scouts have supported for over a decade.

A very heartfelt appreciation goes out to everyone who helped!
