Tom Cox, chirurgien plasticien, est impatient de partir en vacances. Celles-ci, en compagnie de sa femme Julia, sur le point d'accoucher, de ses deux enfants, Noé et Lison, et de son père, Ben, un septuagénaire facétieux et instable, s'annoncent sympathiques, familiales et un peu fatigantes. Pour commencer, Ben invite une auto stoppeuse un peu naïve, sans prévenir la famille. tout se complique encore quand le régulateur automatique de vitesse de la voiture reste bloqué à 130 km/h.
